Lux Row Distillers is a relatively new player in the world of bourbon, having opened its doors in 2018. While it may not have the same long-standing history as some other distilleries, Lux Row has wasted no time in establishing itself as a producer of top-quality spirits.
When I first heard about Lux Row and its commitment to producing fine bourbons, I was intrigued. As a sommelier and brewer, I have always been fascinated by the art and science behind creating exceptional spirits. So, naturally, I was eager to learn more about Lux Row and what sets it apart in the industry.
One aspect that immediately caught my attention was Lux Row's dedication to craftsmanship. The distillery is located in Bardstown, Kentucky, often referred to as the “Bourbon Capital of the World.” This region has a long and storied history of bourbon production, and Lux Row is proud to be a part of that tradition.
Lux Row's distilling process begins with carefully selected grains, including corn, rye, and malted barley. These grains are then milled and cooked to create a mash, which is fermented using a proprietary yeast strain. The resulting liquid is distilled in traditional copper pot stills, allowing for the extraction of the rich flavors that will eventually become Lux Row bourbons.
But Lux Row's commitment to quality doesn't stop there. The distillery is also home to a state-of-the-art barrel warehouse, where the bourbons are aged to perfection. The barrels used at Lux Row are charred to a specific level, allowing the bourbon to interact with the wood and develop its distinct flavor profile.
During my visit to Lux Row, I had the opportunity to tour the facility and witness firsthand the care and attention to detail that goes into every step of the production process.
