Ironfish Distillery is a family-owned business that has been handcrafting small-batch spirits in the heart of Virginia since 2014. Our flagship product is Ironfish Bourbon, which is made from a blend of locally sourced corn, rye, and wheat. Our bourbon is aged for a minimum of two years in new American oak barrels, resulting in a smooth, complex spirit with notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak.

Where Is Iron Fish Bourbon Made?
Iron Fish bourbon is made at the Iron Fish Distillery in Thompsonville, Michigan. The distillery uses locally-grown grains to produce its spirits, and is one of only a handful of distilleries in the United States that does so. Where Is Iron Fish From?
Iron Fish Distillery is located on a working farm in Thompsonville, Michigan. The farm has been in the same family for over 150 years, and the distillery is situated on the site of the original family homestead. The Iron Fish team are passionate about using locally sourced ingredients and produce all of their spirits using traditional methods. The water for their spirits coes from an on-site well, and the grain is grown and harvested on the farm itself. All of the fruits and botanicals used in their spirits are also sourced from local Michigan farms. This commitment to using only the finest local ingredients results in a truly unique product that captures the essence of Michigan.
Does The Iron Fish Actually Work?
The fish-shaped iron ingot, also known as the Lucky Iron Fish, has been promoted as a way to prevent and treat iron deficiency. However, there is no scientific evidence to support these claims. In fact, the researchers behind a 2017 study actually concluded that “We do not recommend the use of the fish-shaped iron ingot in Cambodia or in countries where the prevalence of iron deficiency is low and genetic hemoglobin disorders are high.”
Where Is Lucky Iron Fish Manufactured?
Lucky Iron Fish is manufactured in Cambodia. The company employs “hard-to-employ Cambodians” to manufacture the fish-shaped iron ingots using recycled scrap iron from a nearby factory. The company began promoting the product in a few rural villages in October 2013, and began a full marketing campaign in Kandal Province in January 2014.
How Do You Clean Iron Fish?
To clean an iron fish, you will need to wash it with water and soap. You may need to use a sponge to get all of the dirt and grime off of the fish. Once the fish is clean, you will need to thoroughly dry it so that no moisture is left behind.
