The idea for Exile Brewing Co. first originated during my time living in Europe. I had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the continent, exploring different cultures and experiencing the vibrant beer scenes in cities like Brussels, Munich, and Prague. It was during this time that I developed a deep appreciation for the art of brewing and the craft beer industry as a whole.
Upon returning to my hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, I felt inspired to bring a taste of European brewing traditions to the Midwest. I wanted to create a space where people could gather, enjoy quality beer, and feel a sense of community. With this vision in mind, I embarked on the journey of starting my own brewery.
In 2012, Exile Brewing Co. was born. The name “Exile” holds special meaning for me. It represents the feeling of being away from home, exploring new territories, and pushing boundaries. It also embodies the idea of breaking free from conventional brewing norms and creating something truly unique.
As the owner, I have been involved in every aspect of the brewery's development. From designing the layout and ambiance of the taproom to experimenting with different beer recipes in our on-site brewing facility, my goal has always been to create an exceptional experience for our customers.
