Who owns St Croix Winery?

Answered by Jesse Garza

Saint Croix Vineyards is owned by Paul Quast and Peter Hemstad. These two individuals have been the driving force behind the winery since its founding in 1992. I have had the pleasure of meeting both Paul and Peter during my visits to the vineyard, and they are truly passionate about their craft and the wines they produce.

Paul Quast, in particular, has an extensive background in the industry. He studied winemaking at the University of California, Davis, and has worked at wineries in California, Oregon, and Washington before settling in Minnesota to start Saint Croix Vineyards. His expertise and knowledge of winemaking techniques are evident in the high-quality wines produced at the vineyard.

Peter Hemstad, on the other hand, brings his own unique skills and experience to the winery. He has a background in horticulture and has been instrumental in cultivating and caring for the vineyards. Peter's attention to detail and dedication to producing the best grapes possible contribute greatly to the overall success of Saint Croix Vineyards.

I remember one particular visit to the vineyard where I had the opportunity to chat with both Paul and Peter about their journey in the wine industry. They shared stories of the challenges they faced when starting the winery and how they overcame them through hard work and a deep love for winemaking. It was inspiring to hear their passion and commitment to their craft.

In addition to their roles as owners, both Paul and Peter are actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the winery. They can often be found in the tasting room, chatting with visitors and sharing their knowledge and love for wine. This personal touch is one of the things that sets Saint Croix Vineyards apart and makes it such a welcoming and enjoyable place to visit.

Paul Quast and Peter Hemstad are the proud owners of Saint Croix Vineyards. Their expertise, dedication, and passion for winemaking are evident in every bottle of wine produced at the vineyard. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend visiting the vineyard, meeting Paul and Peter, and experiencing the exceptional wines they have to offer.
