Is Rebecca Creek a Bourbon?
Rebecca Creek Distillery takes great pride in producing a range of high-quality whiskeys, including small batch blended bourbon whiskey, 16-year old straight bourbon whiskey, double barrel bourbon Spanish Oak whiskey, and Bottled in Bond Texas straight bourbon whiskey. However, it is important to note that not all of our whiskeys can be classified as bourbon.
To be classified as bourbon, a whiskey must meet specific criteria set by the U.S. government. These criteria include being made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn, aged in new charred oak barrels, distilled to no more than 160 proof, and entered into the barrel for aging at no more than 125 proof. Additionally, bourbon must be produced in the United States.
While our Bottled in Bond Texas straight bourbon whiskey does meet all the criteria to be classified as bourbon, our other whiskeys have different aging processes or additional ingredients that make them unique and distinct from traditional bourbon.
For example, our small batch blended bourbon whiskey combines different bourbons and other whiskey styles to create a complex and well-balanced flavor profile. This particular whiskey may not meet the specific requirements for bourbon, but it still offers a delightful drinking experience with its unique blend of flavors.
On the other hand, our 16-year old straight bourbon whiskey is aged for a longer period of time, resulting in a smoother and more mature flavor profile. The extended aging process imparts additional complexity and depth to the whiskey, making it a standout choice for bourbon enthusiasts.
Our double barrel bourbon Spanish Oak whiskey undergoes a secondary aging process in Spanish Oak barrels, which adds a distinctive spiciness and richness to the final product. This unique aging technique sets it apart from traditional bourbons and offers a unique tasting experience.
While these whiskeys may not fit within the strict definition of bourbon, they still maintain the high standards of quality and craftsmanship that Rebecca Creek Distillery is known for. Each whiskey in our lineup has its own unique characteristics and flavor profiles, ensuring that there is something for every whiskey lover to enjoy.
While Rebecca Creek produces a range of exceptional whiskeys, it is important to note that not all of them can be classified as bourbon. However, this does not diminish their quality or appeal. Whether you prefer a traditional bourbon or enjoy exploring unique whiskey styles, Rebecca Creek Distillery offers a diverse selection that caters to a variety of tastes.
