Where is SIMI wine made?

Answered by Rodney Landry

SIMI is made in Sonoma County, a beautiful and diverse region located along the Pacific Coast of California. This region has a long and rich history of winemaking, and SIMI has been a part of that history since 1876. The winery itself is located in Healdsburg, a charming town in the heart of Sonoma County.

I had the pleasure of visiting SIMI's stone cellar in Healdsburg, and it truly is a special place. The cellar has been in use since 1890, and stepping inside feels like stepping back in time. The stone walls are lined with row upon row of aging , and the air is filled with the rich, earthy scent of wine.

What I love about SIMI is their commitment to reflecting the essence of Sonoma County in their wines. Sonoma County is incredibly diverse in terms of its geography and climate, which allows for a wide range of grape varieties to thrive. From the cool, foggy regions along the coast to the warmer inland valleys, Sonoma County offers a multitude of terroirs that influence the character of the wines produced here.

SIMI sources their grapes from various vineyards throughout Sonoma County, carefully selecting the best fruit to create their wines. This allows them to showcase the unique characteristics of different sub-regions within Sonoma County. Whether it's the crisp, citrusy notes of a Sauvignon Blanc from the Russian River Valley or the bold, dark fruit flavors of a Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley, each wine tells a story of its origin.

One of my favorite SIMI wines is their Chardonnay. Sonoma County is known for producing exceptional Chardonnay, and SIMI's version is no exception. It has a beautiful balance of ripe fruit, creamy texture, and vibrant acidity. It's a wine that truly captures the essence of Sonoma County and pairs wonderfully with a wide range of foods.
