Where is Mudhouse wine from?

Answered by Matthew Yawn

Mudhouse is sourced from our iconic vineyards located in three of New Zealand's most renowned wine regions: Marlborough, Central Otago, and the Waipara Valley. Each of these regions has its own distinct characteristics and climate, which contribute to the unique flavors and aromas found in our wines.

Marlborough, located at the northeastern tip of the South Island, is internationally acclaimed for its Sauvignon Blanc. The region's cool climate, abundant sunshine, and free-draining soils create ideal conditions for growing this varietal. The crisp, vibrant, and tropical fruit flavors that Marlborough is known for can be found in our Mudhouse Sauvignon Blanc.

Central Otago, situated in the southern part of the South Island, is famous for its Pinot Noir. This region boasts a unique combination of hot summers and cold winters, which result in intensely flavored, elegant, and complex wines. Our Mudhouse Pinot Noir from Central Otago showcases the region's signature red fruit flavors, silky tannins, and vibrant acidity.

The Waipara Valley, located in the South Island's Canterbury region, is known for producing a wide range of cool-climate wines. The vineyards here benefit from a long, dry growing season and limestone-rich soils, which contribute to the development of rich, aromatic white wines and elegant red wines. Mudhouse wines from Waipara Valley display a harmonious balance of fruit intensity, minerality, and a distinctive regional character.

As a sommelier and brewer, I have had the pleasure of experiencing the unique terroir and flavors of each of these regions firsthand. The Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs have always impressed me with their explosive aromatics, zesty acidity, and vibrant citrus notes. Central Otago Pinot Noirs, on the other hand, have captivated me with their seductive aromas of red berries, earthiness, and velvety textures. And the white wines from the Waipara Valley have surprised me with their elegant structure, delicate floral aromas, and underlying minerality.

Mudhouse wine is sourced from our vineyards in Marlborough, Central Otago, and the Waipara Valley, representing the diverse and exceptional wine regions of New Zealand. Each region contributes its own unique characteristics to our wines, allowing us to showcase the best of what these regions have to offer.
