We offer a custom laser engraving service specifically for charcuterie boards. As an expert sommelier and brewer, I understand the importance of presentation and personalization when it comes to serving and enjoying food and beverages. Engraving a charcuterie board adds a unique touch and allows you to customize it according to your preferences or for special occasions.
Our engraving service is designed to be user-friendly and convenient. We offer a selection of 5 different fonts to choose from, allowing you to find one that suits your style and preferences. Additionally, we provide a standard letter size for the engraving to ensure consistency and readability.
Before the engraving process begins, our boards go through a meticulous preparation process. They are sanded to a smooth 120 grit finish, ensuring a clean and even surface for the engraving. Additionally, the boards are debarked to remove any rough edges or imperfections, providing a polished and professional look.
It's important to note that the charcuterie boards we offer for engraving are not yet finished products. After the engraving is complete, you will need to sand and finish the boards yourself. This allows you to personalize the finish and ensure it matches your desired aesthetic.
When it comes to sanding and finishing the boards, I recommend starting with a higher grit sandpaper (around 220) to smooth out any remaining imperfections and create a silky surface. Gradually work your way up to a finer grit sandpaper (around 400-600) to achieve a smooth and polished finish.
As for the finishing process, you have several options depending on your preference and the desired look of the board. Food-safe oils, such as mineral oil or walnut oil, are commonly used to seal and protect the wood while enhancing its natural beauty. Beeswax and carnauba wax can also be used to create a protective barrier and add a subtle sheen to the board.
It's important to follow the instructions provided with the finishing product you choose, as application methods and drying times may vary. Applying multiple coats and allowing sufficient drying time between each coat will help ensure a durable and long-lasting finish.
Our custom laser engraving service allows you to add a personal touch to DIY charcuterie boards. We provide a selection of fonts and a standard letter size to simplify the process. However, it's important to note that the boards will require sanding and finishing before they are ready to use. By taking the time to sand and finish the boards yourself, you can create a truly personalized and professional-looking charcuterie board for your entertaining needs.
