Telson Tequila is indeed additive-free. As an expert sommelier and brewer, I take great pride in the production and aging process of our tequilas at our distillery, El Patriota. We believe in creating tequilas that are pure and true to their essence, without the need for any additives.
At El Patriota, we have a strong commitment to maintaining the integrity of our tequilas. We carefully select the finest agave plants, grown in the rich volcanic soils of Jalisco, Mexico. These agave plants are hand-harvested by skilled jimadores, who have been cultivating agave for generations. By hand-selecting the best agave plants, we ensure that only the highest quality raw materials are used in the production of our tequilas.
Once the agave is harvested, it is brought to our distillery where it undergoes a meticulous process to extract the sweet juice, known as agave nectar. This nectar is then fermented using natural yeast, which is present in the environment and on the agave itself. By relying on natural yeast, we allow the fermentation process to occur organically, without the need for any artificial additives or accelerators.
After fermentation, the tequila is distilled using traditional copper pot stills. This distillation process allows us to capture the purest flavors and aromas of the agave, without the need for any additional flavorings or enhancers. We take great care in monitoring the distillation process, ensuring that only the finest tequila makes its way into our barrels for aging.
Once the tequila has been distilled, it is aged in oak barrels for a minimum of one year. During this aging process, the tequila develops its unique character and complexity, as it absorbs the flavors and aromas of the oak. At El Patriota, we only use barrels that have been previously used for aging bourbon or wine, ensuring that no additional flavors or additives are introduced to the tequila.
Throughout the entire production and aging process, we adhere to strict quality control measures to ensure that our tequilas remain additive-free. We believe that by allowing the natural flavors and aromas of the agave to shine through, we are able to create tequilas that are truly authentic and representative of the rich Mexican heritage.
