What would happen if you put vodka through a Brita filter?

As an expert sommelier and brewer, I can confidently say that putting vodka through a Brita filter will not have any significant impact on its taste or alcohol content. The purpose of a Brita filter, also known as an activated carbon filter, is to reduce chlorine taste and odor from tap water. It is not designed to filter or alter the chemical composition of alcoholic beverages.

Vodka, by definition, is a distilled spirit made from fermented grains or potatoes. It undergoes a rigorous distillation process to achieve a high alcohol content, usually around 40% ABV (alcohol by volume). This means that the majority of the liquid in vodka is alcohol, with very minimal impurities.

When you pass vodka through a Brita filter, the activated carbon inside the filter may trap some impurities or particles present in the vodka, but it will not affect the alcohol content. The molecules of alcohol are much smaller than the pores of the filter, so they will easily pass through without being filtered.
