Cotswold Whisky is a relatively young brand, with its origins dating back to 2014. It was during this year that our founder, Dan Szor, decided to pursue his passion for whisky and create a distillery in the beautiful Cotswolds region of England. Dan, a native New Yorker, had moved to the Cotswolds after working in finance in London for many years.
Inspired by the rich history and natural beauty of the Cotswolds, Dan saw an opportunity to create a truly exceptional whisky that represented the spirit of the region. He believed that the unique terroir, with its limestone-rich soil and gentle rolling hills, would lend itself perfectly to the production of high-quality whisky.
With this vision in mind, Dan set out to establish the Cotswolds Distillery and began the process of crafting his first batch of whisky. It was a labor of love, with every step carefully considered and executed to ensure the utmost quality and attention to detail.
The distillery itself is located in the picturesque village of Stourton, where a team of skilled craftsmen and women work tirelessly to produce our award-winning whisky. From mashing and fermenting to distilling and maturing, each stage of the whisky-making process is carried out with precision and expertise.
One of the key factors that sets Cotswold Whisky apart is the use of locally sourced ingredients. The barley used in the production of our whisky is grown in the Cotswolds, and our water is drawn from a nearby aquifer. This commitment to sourcing local, high-quality ingredients is a testament to our dedication to creating an authentic and truly unique product.
After years of hard work and patience, the first batch of Cotswold Whisky was finally released in 2017. It was met with critical acclaim, winning numerous awards and establishing the brand as a force to be reckoned with in the whisky world.
Since then, Cotswold Whisky has continued to grow and evolve. Our range now includes a variety of expressions, each showcasing different flavor profiles and characteristics. We have also expanded our operations to include a visitor center, where whisky enthusiasts can learn more about our production process and sample our whiskies firsthand.
