What should you not put in Hydro Flask?

As an expert sommelier and brewer, I can confidently say that there are certain things you should avoid putting in a Hydro Flask. One such thing is milk, especially when it is hot and kept in the flask for an extended period of time.

Firstly, it is important to understand that milk is a perishable product and can spoil relatively quickly if not stored properly. When milk is heated and kept at a suitable temperature, it creates an ideal environment for microorganisms to multiply rapidly. These microorganisms can include bacteria, such as E. coli and Salmonella, which can cause foodborne illnesses.

By placing hot milk in a Hydro Flask and keeping it warm for an extended duration, you are essentially providing a breeding ground for these microorganisms. The warm environment inside the flask promotes their growth, leading to spoilage of the milk. Consuming spoiled milk can result in various health issues, including diarrhea and abdominal pain.

I have personally experienced the consequences of storing milk in a Hydro Flask for too long. On one occasion, I had prepared a thermos of hot milk to take with me on a long journey. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I ended up not consuming it for several hours. When I finally opened the flask to have a sip, I was met with a sour and unpleasant smell. Upon further inspection, I noticed the milk had curdled and was no longer safe to consume. It was a disappointing experience, to say the least.

To avoid such situations, it is best to consume milk immediately after heating or refrigerate it promptly if you wish to store it for later use. Hydro Flasks are excellent for keeping beverages hot or cold, but they are not designed for long-term storage of perishable items like milk.

Putting hot milk in a Hydro Flask for an extended period of time is not advisable. The warm environment inside the flask promotes the rapid multiplication of microorganisms, leading to spoilage and potential health risks. It is best to consume milk immediately after heating or refrigerate it if you plan to store it for later use.
